Let’s Know About TBILISI STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Tbilisi State Medical University LLC was founded in 2019 with the intention to create an international university that would provide affordable, high quality professional healthcare education in Georgia for both local Georgian students along with international students.

• Tbilisi State Medical Institute established June 10, 1930, was founded on the basis of the faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State University (TSU). This has become a powerful stimulus of development Higher Medical Education and Medical Sciences in Georgia. Tbilisi State Medical University at the foundation consisted of three faculties: Medical- Preventive (including Division of Stomatology), Sanitary- Preventive and Pharmacochemistry. During the 80 years long history of the University in different periods of time were founded and functioning the following faculties: Paediatrics (since 1931), Stomatology (since 1936), Military Medicine (since 1993), Medical-Biology (since1994), Psychosomatic medicine and Psychotherapy (since1996). Till date Tbilisi State Medical University has five faculties: Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy, Public health, Physical medicine and rehabilitation. Tbilisi State Medical University runs four Higher Education Programs: General Practice Nurse, Midwifery, Medical Devices Technician, and Pharmacy Technician.
• TSMU and Emory University have agreed a collaboration that will include joint educational and training programmes / learning courses, external evaluation of educational programmes, support with new teaching methods particularly in regard to an integrated MD programme, clinical clerkships in US sites and opportunities for exchange programmes for staff and students.
• TSMU have a strong commitment to uphold the values and examples set by Professor Tbilisi State Medical University to offer affordable high-quality health care education and by focusing on both medical education and public health as key areas for research and development will lead to graduates able to serve the needs of both their patients and their populations.

The first two programmes being developed are one-cycle educational programmes in Medicine and Stomatology.
